Project lead Matchmaking platform (consultancy/freelance)

Climate-KIC

Climate-KIC is a Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC), associated with the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). Climate-KIC’s mission is to drive innovation in the area of climate change adaptation and mitigation through integrated and creative partnerships between business, academic and public institutions. The KIC is a major pan-European consortium that brings together 120 partners. These are organised around 6 Geographic locations.

Background

Climate-KIC needs a Knowledge Management and Matchmaking platform to fulfil the need for matchmaking of our partners and potential clients. In 2015 a platform prototype was created that is very well suited to fulfil these needs. There are only some minor adjustments needed to be done at the front-end (design) and the back-end (connection to internal IT systems) to make it fit for the needs of the current Climate-KIC community. The platform is acting as an open, front-end marketplace where both innovation solutions (supply) and challenges (demands) are presented in a user-friendly and attractive manner. A smart search engine enables access to both in-market and pre-market innovations.

  • Re-brand the current portal with the Climate-KIC look & feel

  • Put current innovation projects and projects onto the platform (supply)
  • Put current Start-ups and Greenhouse projects onto the platform (supply)
  • Liaise with potential partners to put challenges on the platform (demand)
  • Explore and integrate ICT/Back-end of Climate-KIC systems

Person Specification

  • Educated at HBO+ level
  • Fluent in Dutch and English (written and verbal)
  • Proven experience of leading community portal projects
  • Good understanding of Climate-KIC activities
  • Knowledge and understanding of the key issues relating to ICT/community platforms

Project lead Climate Leader University (consultancy/freelance)

Background

The Education pillar of Climate-KIC is delivering the new Climate Leaders that our society is looking for. The Climate-KIC Label is a concept developed by Climate-KIC to educate Climate Leaders on a large scale. It is an add-on programme to existing Master programmes at European Universities and consists of five elements:

  • The Journey: a five-week learning experience based at three partner Climate-KIC centers in Europe.
  • SPARK: Inspiring talks or workshops with climate innovators and thought-leaders.
  • Mobility: a 3-6 month internship exposing students to the reality of professional life in industry and business.
  • Complementary courses: elective courses to provide knowledge and tools to become innovators and/or entrepreneurs with an impact on Climate Change.
  • Thesis: final project to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and attitude of the student in one of the thematic fields of climate change.

The impact of our Graduate School Label is currently about 100 students per year across Europe. This amount is limited because it is directly related to the EIT funding we receive and the staff we have to deliver our programmes. The market for this type of Climate leaders is however much larger than this and the momentum is there to scale our Graduate School Label activities.

In the second part of 2017 Climate-KIC Benelux will set up a pilot for a Climate Leader University that offers a sponsored Climate-KIC label to students of Dutch Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences. The idea is to construct a sponsored Label programme that includes parties from the Knowledge Triangle: (local) Government, Businesses, and Universities.

Purpose of the assignment

Climate-KIC is looking for a project lead (consultant/freelancer) who is responsible for the following activities:

  • Develop a strategy to scale the current Label programme by sponsorships
